One thing you find missing in the New Testament writings is the mention of the political climate of the day. The Roman empire was thoroughly established, the religious order was ruling with an iron fist, and the early Christians were being scattered in every direction. In the midst of turmoil, precious little is said in the New Testament scriptures about political leaders or religious rulers. Instead, the focus was on the message, getting the good news of forgiven sins and changed lives into the ears of everyone near, far, and wide was of paramount importance. The result of such determination is mentioned in the New Testament book of Acts where one community leader comments that the Christ-followers have turned the world upside down. What a testimony.
In stark contrast, the church today is more known for its decline rather than its determination to get the message out. You are more likely to hear about the political climate than the end-time message. This is, in part, what prompted the unexpected journey to simple church, which led to the unexpected journey to a close personal relationship with the god—which revealed a close personal relationship with the godhead, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The relationship is what allows the message to come to life. It is similar to when you are in love. Your very demeanor gives you away. People cannot help but notice spring in your step, or glimmer in your eye when you are in love. Generally, they ask you about it—as opposed to you being forced to say something to them.
A close personal relationship with the godhead is a love relationship that puts a spring in your step and a glimmer in your eye. The circumstances that impact other people often have little or no impact on you—and people notice. This is the best form of evangelism there is.
As 2020 winds down, make a point to draw close to God. Determine to have a love relationship with him. You might be surprised to find people asking you what is different about you.
Merry Christmas to all.
