You are created for a close personal relationship with the Godhead.

In the beginning, God created…man, mankind, or humanity.

He created a male and spent time with him.

By bringing every living creature before him, he showed the male that he was unlike anything created by God.

He put the male to sleep, removed a rib, and created a companion. The male called her woman.

God spent time with them, and everything was perfect.

God told his creation not to eat fruit from a particular tree. The result of eating it would be death—they ate the fruit.

However, they did not drop dead.

Did God lie?

Of course not. The Bible says that God cannot lie.

God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Numbers 23:19 The New Living Bible

So, what happened?

God was talking about eternal and not temporal. The perfection of God had been corrupted by the male’s disobedience (sin), and the result brought corruption to the human body.

God intended his creation to live forever; now, they must face death.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son,

so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 The New Living Bible

The story of Jesus is one of redemption, putting things back in alignment with God’s eternal plan.

But these are written that you may believe[fn] that Jesus is the Messiah,

the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 20:31 The New International Version

It is easy to miss his intentions because God does not live and move the way humanity does.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9 The New Living Translation

For instance, the word soon means in or after a short time. In other words, in a few minutes or hours.

For God, soon can mean a few millennia.

For example,

For yet in a very little while,

the Coming One will come and not delay.

Hebrews 10:37 The Christian Standard Bible

Jesus is the coming one, and the writer of the New Testament book of Hebrews, he (Jesus) will come in a very little while (soon).

Did God lie?

Of course not.

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think.

No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed,

but wants everyone to repent.

II Peter 3:9 The New Living Translation

It is God’s intent for you to live with him forever.

The question is, why does God want you to live forever?

It is not to be given a harp floating on a cloud strumming Kumbaya.

Much can be said about this, but suffice it to say that a creative God has creative plans for your eternity.

Because of this, he intends to prepare you now (while alive on earth) for then (your eternal purpose).

This can explain why your life does not turn out the way you think it should. God is preparing you for something more in eternity.

To learn more, my story: A plan, a purpose, and a place will offer more insight.

A close personal relationship with the Godhead is needed now more than ever.

A close personal relationship with the Godhead is a journey. I invite you to follow along. I will pass it along as I learn so you, too, can learn. I hope that as you learn, you can pass it along so that I (and others) might learn.
